NEWS: July 10, 2026 – Music community unveils voluntary AI labelling program for sound recordings
A group of recorded-music organisations representing creators and companies across the globe has announced a unified, voluntary approach to labelling tracks that use generative AI. The labels are designed to help listeners clearly understand whether generative AI was used to create sound recordings (“AI-Generated”) or whether it was used in a limited way alongside human performance (“AI-Assisted”). The initiative will use visual icons supported by metadata across digital music services, with the system intended to evolve as technology and regulatory requirements change.
